Company Experience & Profile:

We are a Southern California-based MBE/DBE General Engineering Contractor specializing in hazardous waste remediation, stormwater management, contaminated brownfield maintenance, and many more services for public works, private developments, and major Superfund/CRCLA sites. We are certified Minority-Owned/MBE, Disadvantaged Business/MBE, and Small Business-Public Works/SBPW. Previously as Mayfield Enterprises, we have over two generations of high-profile project management experience since 1985. We have contracted with the City of Cerritos, Norwalk, Carson, Santa Fe Springs, and more governments in addition to high-risk environments like Exide Superfund, Ascon Superfund, Cal Compact Landfill, BKK Landfill, Montrose Chemical (DDT) Superfund, OII Superfund, WDI Superfund, and more for decades. The company is family-owned and currently headed by CEO James Mayfield (QSD/QSP/QISP/CPMSM/CPESC/CISEC) and based out of Long Beach with our main yard in Carson. We are registered for Public Works in California, CalTRANS, and Federal & Tribal projects. We have decades of contracting experience in refineries, power plants, Superfunds/CRCLA, substations, vacant lots, storm sewer/storm canal systems, treatment facilities, industrial plants, gas stations, airports, and more.

Building off over 3 decades of experience absorbed from his partner and father Jim Mayfield (Mayfield Enterprises, Inc.), James mastered the industry in Project Management for over 15 years on HAZMAT, Brownfield, and SUPERFUND/CERCLA Sites and projects of all sizes throughout Southern California. James was Mayfield Enterprises‘ chief Project Manager, Environmental Officer, & Hazmat Engineer from 2005 to 2022. Mayfield Enterprises had previously become famous for cleaning up the Cerritos Air Disaster that killed 82 people, for toxic soil remediation in preparation for the placement of the Spruce Goose at the Port of Long Beach (see photos below), remediation at Waste Disposal, Inc. (WDI) and Montrose DDT, Stringfellow Superfund, and jet fuel cleanups at Camp Pendleton Air Force Base.

Eventually, James applied this knowledge and experience with a greater focus on environmental reclamation, evolving into Mayfield Environmental Engineering (dba Mayfield Environmental Solutions) before taking over both corporations at once. All James Mayfield’s licensing and certifications were achieved independently from scratch and were not transferred. In addition to being a Stanford-educated Professor with over 30 publications and books in several languages, James’ real passion lies in Construction-related Project Management, Environmental Cleanups, Hydrogeology (Stormwater Management), HAZMAT, Excavation, and Field Labor.

The rest of OUR TEAM are composed of skilled field laborers, operators, and scientists who bring wide ranges of skills and experience. Many have worked with us for decades. Our partners and subcontractors have close and longstanding relationships with us that will bring dependability and diverse skillsets to your jobsite.
